Daily Aspirin Can Reduce Your Chances of Dying From Cancer Up to 60%

Researchers have found a drug that's unexpectedly effective at reducing one's chances of dying from many common forms of cancer, in some cases lessening fatalities up to 60%. It's a small, long term daily dose of aspirin.

In a new report, stemming from eight long term studies including some 25,000 patients, British researchers found that a small, 75 milligram dose of aspirin taken daily for at least five years reduces risk of dying from common cancers roughly 10 to 60 percent. Here are some of the findings, published today on the website of medical journal The Lancet:

• After 5 years of daily aspirin, death due to gastrointestinal cancers decreased by 54%.
• After 20 years, death due to prostate cancer decreased by 10%
• After 20 years, death due to lung cancer decreased by 30% (among those with adenocarcinomas, typically seen in nonsmokers)
• After 20 years, death due to colorectal cancer decreased by 40%
• After 20 years, death due to esophageal cancer decreased by 60%

That's insane. I always thought that aspirin was bad for you.

What about daily beer? Does that work too?

miracle drug. have scientists figured out how it works yet?

also, the aspirin advertising team should jump on this research. "ASPIRIN: Prevents headaches, cancer"

More then likely it's because the aspirin thins your blood out. And if you have a family history of cancer it won't feed the cells as fast? Just a thought.

gotta wonder if these stats are propagated by the pharmaceutical company?

I've got to wonder though, how much of a placebo effect asprin has on peoples brains though? Since it's a drug that seems to do so much.

Placebo or not it works. Also I would think they had two test groups and the asprine one was better

It's crazy how back and forth these things go. "Aspirin is awful for you!" to "Aspirin will keep cancer from killing you!" lol

Doesn't it increase chances of heart attack though?

Good News: The cancer will slowly eat away at your body, torturing you just enough to keep you from dying.

Bad News: You are not physically addicted to pain medication.

I'll never take an aspirin daily! Aspirin is really not great for the human body :/

Who'd have thought it? being part of a 20 year clinical trial with regular check-ups can reduce your risk of dying of cancer.

Bet the Germans wish they hadn't started trouble in 1914: Bayer would still have the patent on this baby.

I know if you have a heart condition an aspirin regime helps keep the blood thinned, so that helps prevent strokes, heart attacks....etc.
Never heard of it for preventing cancer....good to know just wonder if it really works? Cancer is a crazee insane disease that I think it is hard to control. Chuck I agree, a daily beer keeps the docs away...lol
