Scosche solBAT II Sun-Powered USB

What if you could charge pretty much any gadget, from iPhones to Blackberries, with a pocketable solar panel? Well, you can now with the solBAT II. It's a small plastic box that's far lighter than any cellphone, the SolBAT II is essentially a solar panel connected to a battery connected to AC and USB ports.

The catch is that the solBAT II takes a long time to charge—4 to 5 days in all, according to the package. After sitting that long in my window, the device still hadn't reached its 1500mA capacity.

Price: $30, but as low as $20 on Amazon.

Hmmmmm, its the size of an iphone. So it would be like carrying two iphones. Bulky for pockets :/

No use for that here for the next 6 months.

Very neat, although with the long charge time, it may not get much use from me. But with a $20 pricetag, its almost a shame not to buy it

Wow 4 or 5 days to charge, and the size of an iphone, might make it annoying. But $30 to $20 could make it worth it.

That's pretty cool. I can see it being useful for if you go camping and bring your iPod or something like that.

For only $20, might make a great gift for the holidays.

Or for myself :)

the technology really needs to get better before that'll catch.

also, it's probably just charging the lithium battery inside your device, which dies after a while anyway.

That's a really good idea.

this could be good for emergency situations, but very impractical for day-to-day use because of the charge time required
