Their Vision Max 3D glasses promise universal compatibility on all 3D TVs—which is fantastic—but you'll need to use Monster's base station to make said TVs work with the glasses.
$250 buys you a base station (transmitting shutter sync information over 2.4GHz) and one pair of glasses. $180 buys you an extra pair of glasses.
It's not a bad idea—not at all. But so long as you can't just bring your glasses to a friend's house to watch a movie, so long as the glasses themselves can't decode every manufacturer's particular 3D timing, so long as you need a intermediary piece of equipment to make it all work, Monster's solution doesn't look much more tempting (or flexible) than that of the original manufacturers.
This seems like some pretty darn overpriced and useless stuff if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteAnd $180 for an extra pair of glasses? C'mon, if they can't even do shit without the station they can't be worth THAT much.
The only information I could use from this is don't buy a 3d TV. Not yet at least, it seems the technology will be massively invested into in the future, but right now it's just something for rich people to play with.
ReplyDeletei'd love me some 3d glasses but at 180 a pop, that's insane... i'll stick to HDTV!
ReplyDeleteAre they like the xray glasses they used to advertize at the back of Marvel comics?
ReplyDeleteI find 3d TV's to be quite useless but this makes it even more unappealing. I mean seriously? SERIOUSLY?! It makes me wonder how many people have even bought these 3d TVs and are acutally enjoying them.
ReplyDelete"We promise our glasses will universally work on all 3D TVs... However, not all TVs are compatible with the glasses."
ReplyDeleteIt could have some potential.
ReplyDeleteI like the concept. Now we tackle the issue of making 3D affordable.
ReplyDeleteawesome ! I want theses !
ReplyDeleterenta-burners 2000
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to wait a while on this 3D stuff hehe.
ReplyDeleteI think it could be kinda cool to watch a 3d movie at home :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice posts, i follow your blog...
ReplyDeleteeh, i'm going to hold out until we have holograms.
ReplyDeleteIts really idiotic that the manufacturers cant work together to make a common standard..
ReplyDeleteI really don't think 3d televisions are worth the money and looking at how expensive they're making the glasses, now they're definitely not worth the money.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am one of those weird people that can not see 3d for some reason. Blue/red glasses don't work on me and neither do the green/red so I could honestly care less about a 3d tv lol. Nice post tho, hope something works out for the normal people who can see the 3d =D
ReplyDeletethose are awesome
ReplyDeleteBecause of the terrible glasses, i dont think 3d will take the world by storm
ReplyDeleteCan't wait until 3d technology is mastered
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of 3D tv but its just not happening yet until prices aren't stupid.
ReplyDeleteI have to be honest here; 3D doesn't mean much in my book. Not my cup of tea, I guess.
ReplyDeleteThey should wait until they have better tech before they make overpriced crap.
ReplyDelete3d sucks right now
ReplyDeletehay nice blog man keep it up. just stopping by to say i am restarting my blog and would like it if you stop by and comment i love going to your blog everyday.
ReplyDeletethey look neat but i would have picked a different frequency than 2.4ghz with the proliferation of wifi and all. interference is probably a major issue with these.
ReplyDelete3d tv can lick my 9
ReplyDeleteI loathe and despise "3D Technology". It's the same crap that they used in the 70's repackaged in a shiny and expensive new way. Meh.
ReplyDeletedude Monster is always overpriced, i will be boycotting this product, just as every other Monster product.
ReplyDeleteDOWN WITH BESTBUY!
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the technology is to new to worry about it.
ReplyDeleteWell, i'm not ccrazy about wearing glasses all day just to watch tv or movies, you know
ReplyDeleteThat's sooo expensive.
ReplyDeleteman some years ago LG ws trying to do some 3DTV without the glasses they were putting like 2 pixels in one... SO every pixel could send 2 image angles to your eyes
ReplyDeleteIt will get to the point where they come with the TV as they should.
